Every season is captured from fall in the countryside, winter on frozen ponds with ice skates and snow flurrying down at holiday time, spring with the thaw and leaves burgeoning, and summer at the water. It is a beautiful picture book which captures the essence of Holland and it is up to the reader to find the stories in these bewitching illustrations. There is no text with the engaging artwork.

CHARLOTTE DEMATONS (1957) was born in the Netherlands, went to school in France, and studied art at de Gerrit Rietveld Academy of Art in Amsterdam. Ms. Dematons has made many illustrations for children"s books, and received the most prestigious illustration awards. Uniquely talented in picture-book art, Charlotte"s work has the appearance of an old master, painted with loving care.
