프리드리히 카를 베히터 (Friedrich Karl Waechter)
Waechter was born in Danzig, the son of a teacher and grew up in the not distant city Tiegenhof on. In winter 1944/45, the family fled via the Baltic Sea to Warnemünde and ended up in Sahms ( Schleswig-Holstein ). Waechter"s father was killed in the war.
Friedrich Karl Waechter attended Lauenburgische Gelehrtenschule in Ratzeburg , where early showed his talent for drawing. A year before graduation he left school to attend the Art Alsterdamm in Hamburg to study commercial art. After studying Waechter worked at Upper Baden listing expedition in Freiburg . During this time he drew cartoons for the magazine already twen . In 1979 he was one of the founding members of the satirical magazine Titanic , for which he worked until 1992, while he was active mainly as a playwright and director at the same time. In addition, he noticed also a visiting professor at art academies.Waechter died on the night of September 16, 2005 at the age of 67 years his lung ailment. He left a wife and three adult sons. His grave is on the Frankfurt main cemetery .
Waechter"s son Philip Waechter (* 1968) also works as an illustrator of children"s books.
