프리드리히 카를 베히터 (Friedrich Karl Waechter)

 

Waechter was born in Danzig, the son of a teacher and grew up in the not distant city Tiegenhof on. In winter 1944/45, the family fled via the Baltic Sea to Warnemünde and ended up in Sahms ( Schleswig-Holstein ). Waechter"s father was killed in the war. 

Friedrich Karl Waechter attended Lauenburgische Gelehrtenschule in Ratzeburg , where early showed his talent for drawing. A year before graduation he left school to attend the Art Alsterdamm in Hamburg to study commercial art. After studying Waechter worked at Upper Baden listing expedition in Freiburg . During this time he drew cartoons for the magazine already twen . Waechter"s son Philip Waechter (* 1968) also works as an illustrator of children"s books.
