1972년 영국 브라이턴에서 태어났으며, 브라이턴 대학에서 그림 공부를 했습니다. 그림책 작가가 되기 전에는 8년 동안 트럭이나 버스 등을 집 삼아서 떠돌이 생활을 하기도 했습니다. 첫 작품인 『늑대들』은 큰 성공을 거둬 2005년 영국 최고의 그림책에 수여하는 ‘케이트 그리너웨이’ 상을 받았습니다. 현재 고향에서 남편과 딸, ‘버튼’과 ‘미스터 무’라는 쥐 두 마리와 함께 살고 있습니다. 주요 작품으로 『겁쟁이 꼬마 생쥐 덜덜이』 등이 있습니다.
