K.G. 캠벨(K.G. Campbell)은 에딘버러 대학교에서 미술사를 전공한 뒤 현재 캘리포니아 남부에 거주하며 활동하는 작가이자 일러스트레이터입니다. 어린 시절을 스코틀랜드 에든버러에서 보내며 체득한 고딕적이고 클래식한 감성이 그의 작품 전반에 짙게 배어 있습니다. 에즈라 잭 키츠상(Ezra Jack Keats Award)을 비롯해 유수의 아동문학상을 수상하며 일러스트레이터로서의 탁월한 기량을 입증했습니다. 그의 화풍은 주로 연필, 수채화, 색연필을 겹쳐 그려내는 정교하고 밀도 높은 질감이 특징입니다. 에드워드 고리(Edward Gorey)나 찰스 애덤스(Charles Addams)를 연상시키는 고딕적이고 빅토리아 시대풍의 기묘하면서도 우아한 미장센에, 현대적이고 기발한 유머 감각을 절묘하게 결합하여 자신만의 독특한 '기묘한 동화'의 세계를 구축하고 있습니다.
