Lane Smith (레인 스미스)
레인 스미스(1959～)는 실험성이 강한 작품을 많이 발표한 미국의 일러스트레이터로 콜라주나 대조적인 강렬한 색깔을 사용하여 파격적인 그림을 많이 그렸다. 성인들까지도 그림책의 독자로 만들어 버린 레인 스미스는 《커다란 고양이》로 골든 애플상을 받았고, 뉴욕 북 쇼에서 우수상을 차지했다. 그리고 일러스트레이터 협회에서 주는 실버 메달을 받은 《아기 돼지 삼형제 이야기의 진실》과 칼데콧 아너 상을 받은 《냄새 나는 치즈맨》을 공동작업한 존 셰스카와는 작품활동에서 단짝으로 오랫동안 함께 일해 오고 있다.
