PreSchool-Grade 3 Two strong-looking brown rabbits deliver a washing machine to human Molly"s house. Molly hadn"t placed an order, but she plugs in the washing maching anyway. Then three bizarre animal friends, Bongo, Click, and Pocket, come to visit, shedding various layers of clothing, such as gloves, socks, aprons, and sweatshirts, to be laundered. The zingy machine creates onomatopoeic gurgly sounds. The group cha chas and shuffles through the kitchen and climbs aboard one another"s shoulders to the tune of \"zurn poot poot\" noises. Human Penelope watches the crazed dance from outside. As they drop in an exhausted stupor onto a floor now wet with slopped suds, the by now morose-looking rabbits return to haul the incorrectly delivered machine down the block to Penelope"s house, where she gloats and dances solo. Even though the story has a weak beginning, it is rich with sound effects, and the art has vigorous colors. This odd and almost surrealistic book is replete with zany little details, and the queasy seasick facial expressions are priceless.
